I heard it in church at Agape last Sunday and it has stuck with me ever since. Purification.

What does it mean exactly? Webster defines this verb as “to make pure: as a: to clear from material defilement or imperfection b: to free from guilt or moral or ceremonial blemish c: to free from undesirable elements, to grow or become pure or clean”

I have gone through a purification process myself back in 2004 that was life changing and I will never forget it. But why do I bring this up now? Because I think it’s happening in the world, in my family, in my life and maybe somehow in yours.

The world: When have we seen such a state of chaos before? Maybe 9-11 but that was one day that most of us could have never seen coming. Some experts have said they predicted this financial tumble-I believe them. So why didn’t we do something about it sooner? The rest of us probably didn’t know or didn’t believe it.

My family and my life- Everywhere I turn, friends and clients are seemingly at a crossroads with family or work. I see habits of communication or habits of “being” that have gotten us by these last year years but ultimately do not work.

For example, a friend’s business is going through major, major changes. The business is growing but they just took a hit so hard it’s forcing them to wake up to all the things they didn’t know were beings shoved under the rug by the staff. Mistakes were made that they had no idea about and have had to replace the staff. Out with the old and in with the new!

Another friend is dealing with a family illness and putting life on hold to deal with it. However, the situation is far more intense and uncomfortable then they ever thought it would be because it’s family and the dam is about to break.

My family and my life: lots of unnecessary drama because of what I believe is lack of good communication and lack of responsibilities for one’s own emotions.

My family (and maybe yours- I think this is pretty common) learned to blame others for how they feel. I hear “you hurt my feelings” “you pissed me off” “you did this wrong therefore I am angry and upset at you”

This is called being a victim. Unfortunately, most people learn by example and not many people are taught how to be responsible for their own feelings.

Well I have had it–with all parts of my life and people where this takes place. I believe that all these situations from me, my friends, the world economics, the stresses that seem to plague everyone I talk to or work with is all going to explode or meltdown in order for purification to happen.

We can‘t keep doing the same things we’ve been doing the way we’ve been doing it. IT DOES NOT WORK. We can’t blame others for our feelings, we can’t blame others for our mistakes or the situations we have created.

This new era will call us to be more conscious of our thoughts, feelings, and actions. And then we will get to build our world, our relationships, our businesses and our lives better than before.

If we can handle the transformation. Is your life going through a purification?
